You don\’t know what you don\’t know…even when you think you know…

I found this video posted on my FB Timeline recently. It seemed like some pretty good info at first, but the deeper I got into it, the more it rubbed me up the wrong way and pretty soon it was evident that there is some very messed up thinking being propagated out there concerning the distribution of wealth in America. So, heres my \”rock\” in response. Throw it far and wide if you dare 🙂   There are some crazy assumptions made here: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMfCnR9DGuk] 1. The majority of wealth is owned by employed CEO\’s – FALSE. CEO\’s earn and spend their massive wealth in the same way as the rest of 95% America and most are just as broke. They have higher mortgages, bigger car payments, higher lifestyle maintenance, more tax, greater domestic struggles and so forth. The true wealth in America is owned by the 5% of Americans who not only have wealth, but also wealth \”thinking\”. They have learned the skills to work hard, work smart, over time and deserve every penny they have managed to keep. Most of these are NOT CEO\’s, but owners and entrepreneurs. The CEO\’s in this group are also Owners who have already \”distributed\” their wealth by sharing their success with public investors. 2. Average Americans \”waking up to the reality\” will change things – FALSE. Simply coming to the realization that things are a lot different to what they thought changes nothing. Information without action is nebulous. Along with waking up there needs to be acting up. None of the skills required to become wealthy are acquired at birth. They are ALL learned. Even the poorest and most disadvantaged can learn to earn and accumulate wealth at their particular level of lifestyle. The problem is that broke living is the byproduct of broke thinking. Someone who is broke at $7 an hour will still be broke at $70 an hour. The thinking has to change. 3. The solution is to be found in the fair distribution of wealth. TRUE. However the fairest distribution of wealth is for all Americans to be exposed to wealth thinking – Long Term Thinking, Delayed Gratification, and The Power of Compounding. There is more to be learned but these are a good start. According to Robert Kiosaki (The Cash Flow Quadrant), 95% of Americans earn 5% of the wealth while 5% earn 95% of the wealth. He maintains correctly that the 95% are made up of employees and self employed while 5% are Business Owners and Entrepreneurs with the two groups separated only by different thinking applied to opportunity. The American job is not the solution, nor is it the basis of the America Dream. In fact I believe the sad state of the American family is the result of the American job. Obviously jobs are necessary to maintain society, and there are many right thinking citizens holding jobs that they love. Wealth thinking applied in these cases can provide the same successful lifestyle as the 5% sans the wealth. The issue here is not jobs but slavery. People who are slaves to broken thinking and to what they do. They don\’t see any way out, and in fact the majority have become \”Happy in their Subserviency\” (Huxley – Brave New World). The decline of wealth for the 95% in America is a result if the the same poor thinking perpetuated from a misguided government who have instilled in our society the concept of learned incompetence and dependency – happy subserviency. In Leadershift by Orrin Woodward and Oliver de Mille. Americas decline is attributed to Five Laws. Sturgeons Law – 90% of everything is crud; Bastiats Law – Given repeated  \”Handouts\” and entitlements, society will eventually habitually take whatever they can get without working for it – the line of least resistance; Greshams Law – when the bad or lesser is consistently perpetuated over time it will eventually drive out the good; The Law of Diminishing Returns – you CAN have too much of a good thing. The more you experience of the good thing, your overall happiness and satisfaction will decline; Law of Inertia – a culture moving in a particular direction will increase its velocity until an outside force acts upon it. In an earlier writing De Mille outlines a recipe for socio economic reform which has nothing to do with the socialist model being proposed by the ignorant masses. What we need to bring about reform is a grassroots movement of citizens who will commit to the following: 1. Become Voracious Readers – read good books including the bible, and give careful thought to what you read (including the fine print). 2. Pursue Tribal Mentality – Connect with a community of similar minded Rascals who have character born out of integrity multiplied by courage. Seek them out and associate with intention. 3. Seek out Entrepreneurial enterprise. Gain control of your future by defining the life you want, associating and learning from those who have the results that you desire, and then doing the things they do. I would add one more – with all your heart, pursue your God given purpose. We all have one. It consists of a light he has given us that was placed there for the whole world to see. It is unique and powerful and brings glory to Him when men and women see the good works that rise up as a result (Matt 5:16) Remember, be true to yourself. Your success is a byproduct if personal integrity. Fight the Good Fight!

Passion for Purpose = Progress: A conversation with a loved one.

A conversation with one I love. So whatever you take upon yourself to do, work at it with all your heart as working for The Lord, not for men. So let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Colossians 3:23-24, Matthew 5:16 Been pondering your words. I know you are not soliciting a response, and certainly, you\’ve had enough advice from us over years that you don\’t need more of that right now. I just feel like putting my thoughts to words this morning, so humor me? I have always known you to be a person of great passion and great ambition. You think there is nothing you cant do once you put your mind to it, and I totally agree. At this point in your life you must dig deep and find that one thing that you know has always fired you up…your primal cause. Your reason for being. We all have it, but so few find it because of the distractions along the way…the shiny things along the path, the secondary causes that show up disguised as urgent and important, the present traps the enemy sets for us based upon our past experiences …all of thes are his tactics to steal, kill and destroy. But you are bigger and better not because of who you are, but in spite of who you are because of the one that permanently abides in you. You have proven that time and again. Every now and then you you make a brilliant choice or come to profound judgement about a thing that amazes me. Your mature assessment of the (nameless boy) thing is an example. I agree. The truth is I don\’t believe that was ever meant to be, but then who am I to say? God is sovereign, and in His divine plan he gave you, us, a most wonderful and priceless gift in Olivia Harper Goetsch. At the same time I am convinced at this point that the vehicle and cisrcumstances through which he provided that gift are no longer relevant and are not an ongoing part of his purpose. There are many great things that have come to pass out of the most miserable of circumstances, but how crazy it would be to not separate those events from the resultant prize? Always remember Michelle that God is who He says he is and he does what he says he will do, but he will never override your personal choice. The key is to examine every path on the basis of pleasing ONLY him and you WILL find that one thing. We all want that and when it eludes us we are incomplete, frustrated and just plain miserable. Yet for some reason we would rather endure the price of pain and struggle of that misalignment than the lesser pain of change. If we knew without doubt the priceless rewards of a full engagement with our purpose would we not risk our very life for it, yet alone the reputation acceptance and approval of peers, or even personal comfort? One of my mentors reminds me that very often it takes the pain if staying the same to become greater than the pain of change before we will do anything about it. I heard a funny story the other day (which is not true of course…I mean the story is not true) When God created Adam in the Garden of Eden he came to him and sasid, \”You know Adam, you\’ve been looking kind of lonely lately. Ive been thinkiong about this idea. I would like to create a companion for you. A woman. She will be everything that you could ever imagine in a companion. Not only that, she will literally worship you, well not quite, but almost. She will cook for you, never argue with you, always be happy around you…etc. Wow, said Adam. Thats sounds awesome, but it also sounds very expensive. Whats something like that going to cost me? An arm and a leg, says God. Adam is shocked. \”An arm and a leg?\” thats prettuy steep. What can you do for a rib?\” Most of the time we dont have the best in life because we think its too costly. Or we dont think it through well enough to realize the benefits. Or, we engage in negative self talk about our purpose that is simply not true. Usually negative thoughts about failure and struggle and so forth. The bible says, \”As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.\” We must be very careful about what we think. Thoughts have presence. They find a home. They will always be felt by those around you and will have an impact on your success or failure in life. I\’m thinking about five things that I heard recently that cause us to become negative about ourselves and our present circumstances. Discouragement is a huge obstacle to succeeding in our purpose. Its so easy to become discouraged. One of the main reasons for discouragement is a focus on self. We get a great idea, or someone invites us into an opportunity and at first it sounds great. Or some circumstance or life event fires us up to pursue a new career. Its exciting, but almost immediately we start thinking about reasons why we cant to it. And we start telling ourselves that we\’re not good enough. Or we dont deserve it, or we\’re not smart enough. On the other hand as we take up the task of preparation an study we find it becomes increasingly difficult to make it through…transport problems…time away from Liv…hard classes and difficult assignments. Thats the enemy doing what he does best. His task is to dis the courage we started out with, and in this he has become very proficient over the eons. But he underestimates those such as yourself who are saturated with a Divine passion that can deflect anything

The Dash

The Dash Poem by Linda Ellis I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end He noted that first came the date of her birth And spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth. And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not how much we own; The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard. Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what’s true and real And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, And more often wear a smile Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read With your life’s actions to rehash Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash? ©1996 Linda Ellis
